 1954 -

Sherrie McGraw taught at the Art Students League of New York and has become one of America’s foremost artists and teachers. Her work has received many awards from prestigious New York art organizations as well as being awarded the Medal of Honor for Lifetime Achievement in American Art from the Butler Institute of American Art in 2015. McGraw is only the second woman to have received this honor.

McGraw lectures and demonstrates for art institutions such as the Portrait Society of America, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art, Brigham Young University, Studio Incamminati in Philadelphia and has just received an honorary doctorate from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco.

McGraw’s successful new book, The Language of Drawing, is garnering worldwide attention as the definitive book on drawing and she is presently writing a book on painting.
