Artist Submission Guidelines 2010

InSight Gallery believes representing artists is an honor; and we give this process great thought and care. The Gallery is always interested in seeing new and recognized talent. However we balance our desire for new talent with the strong goal of keeping our gallery small enough in our total number of artists to effectively represent them and their career goals. By this we mean our combined ability to promote our artists through advertising and editorial coverage, devoting appropriate space to their work, and to develop a relationship with them so as best to represent them and theiir work. We make trips to artists’ studios, make a presence at national shows and host group events to facilitate the personal relationships.

We leverage an artist board of directors composed of four artists who have been in the business for over many years combined. We feel fortunate to have their guidance and input in the artists submission and review process. Clearly they are an important part of this overall process.

First, take a detailed look at our website, or visit the gallery to understand the nature of work we exhibit. After you are familiar with our collection, and you feel your work would be appropriate for us, please carefully follow these guidelines. This will help ensure your work is given a thorough review.

Submissions are preferred by regular mail. Appointments must be made for walk in submissions. When sending materials, please mark the envelope “Artist Submission” and mail to:  InSight Gallery – 244 West Main Street, Fredericksburg, Texas 78624

Provide the following information:

1. Cover Letter
            - Tell us about yourself, your artwork and how it is currently marketed
            - Include your website if available

2. Artist’s Statement (a brief paragraph)

3. Biography and Resume

4. Photographs of Artwork
            - Color print outs of artwork, minimum five
            - Optional Compact Disc (CD) with images of artwork, limit fifteen
            - Labeled with artist’s name, title, medium, size and retail price
            - Do not send original artwork

5. Listings Of:
            -  Awards, Exhibitions, Memberships, Invitational Shows, Collections and Literature
            -  Galleries where your work is shown with address, telephone and contact information

6. Supporting Material
            - Marketing media such as brochures and catalogues featuring your work if available

7. Include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope if you want your portfolio returned.

Additionally, the above information may be submitted electronically by typing “Artist Submission” in the subject line and emailing labeled documents and images to: info@insightgallery.com. But, please be sure to include all of the areas requested above, and please keep the size of your attachments to a reasonable size.

Submissions are reviewed, at minimum, on a quarterly basis with our artist board and we will get back to you within this timeframe.
