"Texas Stampede" Exhibition and Sale February 15 - March 21, 2010

February 15-27 on Exhbition at the State Capitol in Austin -- Ground Floor Rotunda

March 2 - 21 -- InSight Gallery, Fredericksburg

March 6 -- Artist Reception at Gallery

Thirty six invited artists will present new works in a show dedicated to promoting the quality of fine art that is created in the Lone Star State. Our hope is that you are able to enjoy the artists’ inspiration and their interpretation of a vast array of subject matter. Whether it is the subdued landscape of Nancy Bush, the masterful still life of Kyle Polzin, the iconic stagecoach of Robert Pummill or the bold Native American painting of Roy Andersen, we anticipate that you will resonate with one if not many of the original works on these pages.

As sixth generation Texans, The Texas Stampede is a show close to our hearts.  Being a Texan is a large part of our personal history and one that we embrace. The artists that live in Texas and paint Texas are as diverse as the topography but we all live here because our internal compass points to Texas. Our intention is to promote and nourish those individuals that choose to live within the borders of the Lone Star State.

To best promote these gifted artists, we all wanted to do something extra-ordinary. What better way to showcase the masterful works of the artists of Texas than by hanging them in the Capitol. This event is the first time that the State Capitol has allowed fine art to hang in their midst for an extended period of time. The Texas Stampede will be on display at the capitol from February 15-27 on the ground floor rotunda.  After that, the show will be transported to InSight Gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas for the show and sale.

The Texas Stampede will officially open on March 2. All thirty six artists have plans to attend the reception on Saturday, March 6 from 6-9pm. From Brownsville to St. Joe, Alpine to Amarillo the diversity of the Texas landscape will be well represented. This is a fantastic opportunity to meet the artists and to support the men and women that are creating some of the most exciting fine art in the country today.
